Unfortunately, it turns out to be true, and a shocked Shaun sees a completely naked, zombie Pete in the shower, who moans and stumbles out to kill him when he sees him. Shaun and Ed look for him but fear going up to him because he might be a zombie and he might still be angry. The next morning, Pete is nowhere to be seen. He tells them that he has work in four hours and it is Sunday, when they mistake it for Saturday. When Shaun and Ed come in drunk to their apartment at two in the morning and begin dancing and partying Pete comes stomping in, breaks the record, and yells at them both for disturbing his night. On his way home Pete was ambushed by several zombies and was bitten by one.
One morning Pete begins complaining to Shaun about Ed living in the flat and wishes for him to leave, Shaun convinces him otherwise however Pete is still heavily irritated by Ed and asks him to do the washing up before leaving for work. While putting up with Ed for a while and finding him occasionally funny he slowly grows more and more tired of him in spite of Shaun's best efforts to keep the peace between the two. Rick and Glenn did something similar in The Walking Dead, but they had to smear themselves with blood and guts to really ingratiate themselves into the horde.Shaun and Pete first met in college and quickly became friends before eventually graduating and moving in together alongside Shaun's best friend Ed of whom Pete doesn't get along with. It’s a wonder more characters in zombie movies don’t do this, because it’s surprisingly effective, but other filmmakers probably avoid it because Shaun of the Dead already made it look ridiculous. The plan goes off without a hitch until they find that the pub is locked and Ed takes a phone call from a friend of his. Shaun pins a zombie to a tree so she has a model for the zombies’ behavior.
Since Dianne is a struggling actor, she seizes the opportunity to give everybody acting lessons. In reality, they literally stagger to the pub so they can move through a horde of the undead undetected. When Ed says they’ll “stagger” to the pub, he just means they’ll be a little tipsy from their pints at the Little Princess. 3 Couple At The Little PrincessĮd says that after having a Bloody Mary, eating at the King’s Head, and drinking at the Little Princess, they’ll “stagger back here,” as in back to the Winchester. So, Shaun and Ed never got to enjoy some pub grub at the King’s Head, but there was still a bite at the king’s head. The pressure of surviving an apocalypse makes Shaun realize that Phillip has always tried to be a good father figure, but the best version of their relationship is short-lived. On their way out of the house to the car, Phillip gets bitten on the head by a zombie. Shaun wants to just pick up his mom Barbara – with the hilarious Night of the Living Dead paraphrase, “We’re coming to get you, Barbara!” – but she won’t abandon her husband, so Shaun has to save his stepdad, Phillip, too. After kicking off the day with a Bloody Mary, Ed plans to have “a bite at the King’s Head,” meaning they’ll go to a gastropub called the King’s Head for something to eat.
